Too Early To Get Excited?
I was just wondering if anyone else out there is starting to get a little excited for the beginning of fishing season? We are just under three months away from fishing season here and the conditions are not always the greatest in the early part of the season here but I must say I am starting to get excited for the fishing season to arrive. I have been looking more online for fishing items and have started to think some about the Fly Fishing Forum that takes place here each spring. This year it is taking place in conjunction with The Boat Show at the Moncton Coliseum. I will be able to go look at all the fly fishing stuff and then look at all the boats I can not afford
The fishing forum is time well spent. If you have never been there it is worth the few dollars it cost to get in. Even if you do not want to buy any supplies it is fun to look around and talk to the vendors. I will also like to look at the fishing boats that will be on display. Perhaps they will take my well worked in 13 foot canoe as a trade-in???
I have never ice fished before and do keep busy with reffing hockey so doing this kind of fishing to pass some of the winter away has never happened.
I do have plans to do some black salmon fishing again this spring. Glenn and Chris took me for the first time last spring and I had a fantastic time. I am looking forward to the fun again this spring. After that, it is usually awhile before I get into the bass and pickerel fishing as the conditions are not the greatest in the early spring. I should try to do some trout fishing this year early on.
I have rambled on long enough. I hope you are all getting excited for the beginning of the fishing season. Also hope that everyone that comes here to read is doing well.

Well Jamie I would say that by the response you got to your post that most fishers are hibernating at the moment. I know I’m going back to bed now. See you in the spring.
2.5 months till the BIG DAY!!!!
We are getting there Glenn!!!!!! Can not wait!!
I get depressed around October 15th or so every year, but the way I try to look at it is, every day after Oct. 15th is one day closer to April 15th! I can’t help myself but to shop around online, just about every night to see what’s new and see what I’ll add to the old tackle pile this year.
Got a new reel to add to the repertoire. A Shimano Stradic. Shimano came out with a new model of this awesome reel, and I bought the old model from Cabelas (ordered online and delivered right to my house) for about $40 less than they retail for around here. Could’ve saved on the shipping and picked it up in March, but I didn’t want to take a chance on them running out of the old stock. Anyway, they’re on sale right now at Cabelas for $120 if anyones interested.
I look forward to spring like the rest of us that’s for sure. Christoph (my equally addicted fishing buddy) and I are planning on an early Spring trip down to Maine for a little largemouth action. I hear it’s awesome down there in the spring and their season is open before ours. There may be an extra (empty) seat in the boat if your interested, Jamie?
The biggest problem I have is that I work with my fishing buddy, so it often makes things worse that we talk about fishing in November, December, January, February,…… You get the picture. That black salmon thing sounds pretty fun as well. We may just have to park our little boat next to yours this spring!
Hope to see you all out on the water soon fellas. I share your passion for this fantastic sport.
Hey Lawrence…thanks for the comment. I am anxious to take a look at the new reel. It was you that showed me the other Shimano reel when we went away last year. I bought one on my trip to Bangor at the end of summer last year. I really like it.
Let me know if there is an empty seat……I know of just the person to fill it
Awww Jamie, awefully nice of you to think of me to fill that seat. I was thinking, depending on the length of trip, that maybe we could take my boat down and go with Lawrence. I’d hate for us to out fish them though, never looks good catching bigger fish than the guides….
Now there is an idea!!!!!
